GCL-0702 Glan Taylor Prisms
The Glan-Taylor air-spaced Prism has substantial advantage over the Glan-Thompson design counterpart by its wavelength extending to UV band. Another advantage of this prism over other air-spaced Glan type prisms is due to its high transmission ratio. The overall transmission is optimized because the transmitted beam is incident on the air-space interface at approximately Brewster angle, thereby reducing the reflection loss to a minimum. However, the Taylor type prisms have a smaller field angle, which is not symmetric about the longitudinal axis of the prism. The total field angle is 8°, but the symmetric field angle is only 5.5°.
