Sapphire is transparent from 170nm to 5.3 micron. Having high strength, hardness and chemical stability it is an exellent material for severe enviroments. Being five times stronger than glass and heat resisting up to 2000 °C, sapphire is often applied as pressure windows.

GCL-1203 Calcium Flouride Windows

Transparent from deep UV to FIR
Excimer laser applications

Calcium Fluoride is extremely transparent over a wide spectrum from deep UV (135nm) to far IR.(9.4µm), which is the idal windows for the very short wavelength excimer lasers. The crystal has very low index (about 1.40) and thus elimimating the need of antireflection coatings. It is slightly soluble in water.
